Rowing Panel Preview

Along the Cayuga Waterfront Trail, visitors navigate Ithaca's waterfront through a series of educational interpretive panels. However, one integral story is missing: the rich history of competitive rowing on Cayuga's inlet. We are aiming to fill this gap along the trail through the Rowing Interperative Panel. The panel information, developed in collaboration with Cornell University, Ithaca College, and the Cascadilla Boat Club, includes a brief overview of rowing as both a participatory and spectator sport, highlighting local crew events and developments, milestones in Cornell University and Ithaca College crew history, and individuals from these two teams as well as the Cascadilla Boat Club who made names for themselves beyond Ithaca's rowing sphere.

The picture below depicts our vision for the installed panel, located at Crew Cove Overlook, adjacent to Cornell Boathouses and the Cayuga Inlet racing course.

Your gift to the Competitive Rowing Interpretive Panel will provide trail users with an illustrated display of the history of competitive rowing on Cayuga Lake, mounted atop an elegant sculptural stand. By supporting the design and installation of this rowing panel, you not only help commemorate the rich history of rowing in Ithaca, but also draw attention to the overlook.

To date, we have raised $6,000 towards our $10,000 goal. If you would like to contribute to this campaign, please click here to navigate to our crowdrise page.
