Design Plans for the Cayuga Waterfront Trail
When the award-winning Cayuga Waterfront Trail is complete it will follow the edge of the Cayuga Inlet for six miles. Click here to view a phasing plan of the trail.
The trail was planned to unfold in three phases:
Phase 1: the two-mile Cass Park Trail, opened in Fall 2002 and is already enjoyed by many joggers, walkers, strollers, and cyclists throughout the seasons. Visit it now.
Phase 2: from Inlet Island to the Ithaca Farmer's Market. NYSDOT is currently in the process of mapping and appraising the required easements. We anticipate construction of phase 2 to occur in 2011.
Phase 3: linking the Farmer's Market to Stewart Park. Construction now underway and will be completed by November of 2010.
Route 13 Crossings: The design of improved pedestrian crossings of at Dey and Third Streets is underway and construction in anticipated in 2011.
